Fiscal Sponsorship Projects

WAGAP happily serves as the Fiscal Sponsor for these projects in our service area. We work with projects that serve our mission and our clients. Fiscal sponsorship can give projects the benefits of nonprofit status with less of the overhead and fiscal burden.

Each of these projects is separate from WAGAP. They raise funds that are tax-deductible contributions, allowing a benefit to the donor. Each project must meet requirements and be approved by WAGAP’s board. Our administrative staff helps these projects comply with federal rules and ethics.

Klickitat County Childcare Committee

The KCCC works to address the serious lack of childcare in our rural communities. The problem is widespread, affecting families all across Klickitat County. If you are interested in becoming a home-based licensed childcare provider or in operating a childcare center, please contact us at kccc@wagap.org. Our childcare liaison can help you with all the details. Watch this 5 minute video to learn more.

Coats for Kids

Coats for Kids is a program sponsored by WAGAP, Insitu and The Next Door. You can donate new and like-new winter clothing (coats, boots, hats, gloves, scarves) and we will get them to children who need them, with help from school district staff. We also buy new items with your financial support. See our Facebook page for more info on how to get involved, where to drop off items, and how to make a donation.

Underwood Community Gardens

Underwood Community Gardens’ mission is to create a shared community vision, to work collaboratively, and to cultivate a place to learn and and experience the rewards of gardening.

UCG began in the Spring of 2013, with 20 individual raised garden beds and one "community" garden plot used by the Enhanced Educational Program for local Home Schooled Children. Garden programming includes cultivation of flowers, fruits, and vegetables. UCG promotes healthy exercise and offers garden-related classes, demonstrations, and field trips.

Gorge MakerSpace

Gorge MakerSpace started as a fiscally sponsored program of WAGAP, and they have since become a nonprofit on their own.

The MakerSpace movement, a worldwide community of inventors, crafters and tinkerers, believes that learning is best done through doing. At Gorge MakerSpace, young people learn the fundamental principles of science, technology, and math through their own creations—and have fun doing so.

Since opening in the spring of 2014, Gorge MakerSpace has offered over dozens of different classes, camps and workshops involving over hundreds of Gorge kids.

Located in the Fellowship Hall at the Bethel Church in White Salmon, Gorge MakerSpace offers after-school classes, weekend workshops, and week-long camps in electronics, 3D printing, e-textiles, and various recycled crafts for students 8 to 18 years old.
